The Dress

11904685_10100293889242410_8768296534440846678_nSaturday was a jam packed day of Wedding Dress shopping! Jane and mum arrived on the train from Doncaster at 8:35 (!), and we started off with breakfast at The Parcel Yard, inside Kings Cross Station.

We headed to Mayfair for appointment number 1, which got off to a rocky start when the shop was all locked up at the time of our appointment. This quickly changed as we were whipped upstairs to the Bridal area, decked out all white, with mirrors and big thick fur throws. The lady who dealt with us here was super nice, friendly and professional. I tried on three beautiful dresses, but the final opinion was they weren’t quite ‘weddingy enough’.

Time for a beverage stop as we headed over to Pimlico. After two G&T’s the next appointment was the worst of the day. We were served a glass of fizz on arrival which earned brownie points but it was a very impersonal experience, the dressing room was super hot, and my sticky body couldn’t fit in the majority of the dresses. It was quite disappointing that 3 of the dresses I wanted to try didn’t go past by bottom!

Time for another pit stop at Pizza Express for some dough balls and Prosecco, then on to the next appointment in Marylebone. We were back on track with nice appointments as the lady here was lovely and again professional. I didn’t love the dresses as much as the first shop, but I’d recommend this place to anyone who has a firm idea of what they want from their dress, as they are willing to chop and change bits from each and put together something unique.

I had heard lots of bad things about the last appointment from friends who had visited, but also the other ladies I spoke to during the day. I didn’t let this put me off, as this was the one I was most looking forward to. We went in with an open mind, and we were dazzled! A friendly start, a glass of prosecco and rows of dresses, all of which I loved. I tried on 6, and loved them all. The lady that served me, Tanya, was lovely, and let me try my favourite on again… THE ONE!!

We ended the day with some alfresco dining at Caravan near Kings Cross before mum and Jane got their train back up north. A productive, lovely, prosecco fuelled day. xx
